The realization of an environmentally sustainable resort is a fundamental aspect to the ultimate success of the project -- one of the key reasons for the selection of the Jumbo Creek Valley over others is that it has been subjected to extensive logging, mining, mining exploration, forest fires and significant recreation for over a half-century. It is far from pristine, and the Government C.O.R.E. report of 1995 designated the valley under Special Management with Commercial Tourism (including resorts) being one of its most important recognized values. It is easily the most suitable valley in North America to support year-round skiing in a sustainable manner.
